Casablanca Bans Illegal Parking Attendants, Declares Free Parking in Aïn Diab
Following numerous complaints about unauthorized parking attendants imposing illegal fees on citizens, the Casablanca municipality has decided to put an end to their actions. A decision has been made in this regard.
End of the dictatorship of parking attendants. The Casablanca municipality has decreed free parking in the coastal area of Aïn Diab, following the receipt of numerous complaints about unauthorized parking attendants imposing illegal fees on citizens. "The decision to make parking free in the coastal area of Aïn Diab was taken by the authorities to prevent the disorder caused by the parking attendants, since the municipality has not granted this service to any entity whatsoever," explained the deputy mayor of Casablanca to Al Ayyam 24.
He stated that "the municipality has received several complaints on this subject," which confirm that "these attendants extort citizens by demanding large sums of money, ranging from 10 to 20 dirhams per car, which is unacceptable." "The city council will install parking meters in all the streets of Casablanca, in order to avoid such transactions, which have become a habit in Moroccan society," added the local official, also stressing that this decision is part of the valorization of Casablanca’s financial resources. "Affordable rates for the entire population of Casablanca will be set in the near future," the local official specified.
