Tangier Residents Demand Crackdown on Illegal Parking Attendants

The decision of the authorities of Casablanca to put an end to the dictatorship of parking attendants is setting an example. Residents of several other cities like Tangier are calling on their authorities to take the same measure as part of the organization of upcoming sporting events.
The people of Tangier are asking the city authorities to follow the example of Casablanca and put an end to the anarchy of illegal car attendants who extort them on a daily basis. Civil society actors are demanding the adoption of new regulations and their strict application in order to put an end to the phenomenon of parking attendants who threaten the safety of citizens.
For example, licenses could be granted to these car attendants to regulate the exercise of the profession. This measure, if it were to become effective, would allow the municipality of Tangier to generate revenue. Currently, these attendants who operate without authorization make believe that they have obtained licenses for an annual payment of 600 dirhams.
