• Morocco’s Cannabis Cultivation Stabilizes at 50,000 Hectares Despite Eradication Efforts

  The area devoted to cannabis cultivation in Morocco has stabilized over the past 10 years between 47,000 and 50,000 hectares.
  This result is the fruit of major eradication efforts over the past decade, going from 134,000 hectares recorded in 2003 to 47,000 hectares two years later, when the UN and the Moroccan government had jointly conducted a detailed study on the cultivated area, reports EFE.

  A routine check by customs officers in the Bielsa tunnel in the Hautes-Pyrénées led to the discovery of nearly 250 kilos of Moroccan cannabis in a car driven by a Canadian national.

  A large shipment of drugs well hidden in a car coming from the northern cities was seized on Sunday. The owners were apprehended.
  It all started with the suspicious vehicle, intercepted by motorcycle gendarmes traveling on the Casablanca-Marrakech highway, reports Barlamane.

  The Court of First Instance in Huelva, southern Spain, has sentenced 3 Moroccans to 18 years in prison and a fine of 18 million euros. The defendants were prosecuted for drug trafficking.
