CAF Delays Decision on 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Host: Morocco and Algeria in Contention

Between Morocco and Algeria, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is having trouble choosing the country that will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) when this announcement was supposed to be effective in February.
Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), will not reveal tomorrow, March 16, the name of the host country for the 2025 CAN at the next FIFA congress to be held in Kigali, reports The africa report. "We can consider three options for the announcement of the host country: by videoconference, as we do regularly, a meeting at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, or a decision at the general assembly on July 13 in Cotonou," said the president of a sub-Saharan federation.
He says he has the impression that CAF does not know how to get out of this situation, "especially since Morocco and Algeria are candidates, and relations between them are very tense." "Morocco is the favorite and the Algerians are on the lookout for the slightest sign indicating that Rabat is on the ball, so it would not have been a good idea in terms of timing," said another official of the African federation.
