CAF Delays Decision on 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Host Country

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was supposed to announce on Friday, February 10, the name of the country that will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. But it will take a few more days.
Morocco, Zambia, the Nigeria-Benin duo and Algeria, candidates to host the 2025 AFCON, were not determined on Friday as scheduled. The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, wants to give himself more time in order to make a decision and especially to satisfy the future disappointed.
"The African football body does not yet have the date for the announcement of the country that will host the 2025 CAN, because CAF wants to make the right decision without any haste and according to the standards required for the organization of this type of competition," he said.
This postponement would be due to CAF’s desire to choose the winner through "an ethical process, with total independence and credibility". Patrice Motsepe stressed that football must serve a noble cause, that of "building our people and uniting Africa".
