Morocco Favored as CAF Set to Announce 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Host

The Confederation of African Football will soon decide on Morocco and four other countries’ bids to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025). The kingdom is the favorite.

CAF will announce the host country for AFCON 2025 in a few days. "We will meet again in Cairo on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 to discuss and make decisions on the countries that will be awarded the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 and AFCON-2027," said the president of the African football governing body, Patrice Motsepe, in a statement published on the organization’s website, following the meeting of its Executive Committee in the Egyptian capital. Morocco, Algeria, Zambia and the Nigeria-Benin duo are the candidates vying to host the AFCON 2025 organization.

Favorite for AFCON 2025, Morocco has several assets. Morocco has brilliantly organized several major African and even global competitions. These include the two editions of the FIFA Club World Cup in 2013 and 2014, the 2022 edition of this tournament, the CHAN in 2018, the 2022 Women’s AFCON, and the Champions League finals. In addition, Morocco has ultra-modern stadiums such as the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, the Grand Stade de Tanger, the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca, the Grand Stade de Marrakech, the Stade Adrar in Agadir, as well as the Fès Sports Complex 🤨, but also top-notch accommodation and transportation infrastructure.
