Morocco Favored for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Opts Out of 2027 Bid

Morocco, which is the favorite to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) withdrawn from Guinea by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is not a candidate for the 2027 edition. Its neighbor, Algeria, is a candidate for both editions to maximize its chances.
Algeria, Egypt, Botswana and Kenya-Uganda-Tanzania (joint bid). These are the six countries that have submitted their declaration of interest to the CAF for the organization of the 2027 CAN. In total, four candidatures were registered. Morocco is not among the applicants. It is the favorite for the 2025 CAN and is one of the countries that have submitted their candidacy (Zambia, Nigeria-Benin, Algeria and Morocco) for its organization. The attribution of the organization of the two editions should take place before next September.
Guinea lost the organization of the 2025 CAN due to the delay in the construction of the infrastructure necessary for the event.
