CAF Boosts WAFCON 2022 Prize Money by 150%, Winners to Receive $500,000

A few hours after the opening in Morocco of the 2022 WAFCON, CAF President Patrice Motsepe announced that the prize money for the participating teams will increase by 150%.
As part of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations football tournament being hosted by Morocco from July 2 to 23, the President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Saturday, July 2, that the overall prize pool of the competition is increasing from $975,000 to $2,400,000, an increase of nearly $1.5 million.
The champions of this edition will be entitled to $500,000, instead of the $200,000 that the winners used to receive. The runners-up will leave with $300,000 and the semi-finalists will each receive $225,000.
On Saturday, Morocco defeated Burkina Faso 1-0 at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
