Morocco Edges Burkina Faso 1-0 in WAFCON 2022 Opener
The Atlas Lionesses got off to a flying start in the 2022 WAFCON being held in Morocco. They beat Burkina Faso 1-0 on Saturday in the opening match of the group stage of this competition.
The opening of this edition of the WAFCON took place in the presence of the presidents of CAF, Patrice Motsepe, FIFA, Gianni Infantino and of course Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the FRMF. For their first match, the Moroccan players managed to snatch the three points by winning (1-0) against Burkina Faso. The goal was scored on a free kick taken by Ghizalne Chebbak in the 29th minute.
Even if the Burkina Faso players gave everything to come back to the score, the Moroccans resisted, blocking all the outlets, determined to protect their advantage. The score will remain unchanged until the final whistle. The supporters are waiting for the Atlas Lionesses to show the same determination next Tuesday during the second match that will oppose them to Uganda.
