Burkini-Clad Woman Faces Discrimination at Moroccan Hotel Pool, Sparks Social Media Outcry

French tourists, bothered by seeing a Moroccan woman residing in England and on vacation in Morocco in a burkini, complained to the reception of the hotel where they were staying. The Moroccan expatriate denounced the incident in a video that went viral on Tiktok.
The Moroccan expatriate named Salma (@sxlmxms) wanted to swim in the hotel pool when three French tourists, apparently bothered by seeing her in a burkini, approached a hotel security guard to complain about the young Moroccan woman’s attire. The latter would then have "gently" asked Salma to leave the pool to come back later, when the French tourists have finished enjoying the premises. Which she refused.
"We are in a Muslim country, I have the right to be here and wear what I want. I paid for my stay like you. If you don’t like it, go home," the young Moroccan expatriate would have reacted. In the video that recorded more than a million views on TikTok, Salma specified that she was subjected to racist and xenophobic insults from these French tourists, including a woman who would have even removed her swimsuit bottom to swim naked next to her in order to "bother her".
This story has sparked the outrage of Moroccan and foreign Internet users who deplored the attitude of the security guard who, instead of reprimanding the tourist who undressed, asked the Moroccan expatriate to leave the premises to come back later. "How long will we have to endure this colonizer complex?" wondered an Internet user. And another commented: "When you go to a country, you adhere to its rules and customs and respect its people".
