Body Mix-up at Barcelona Airport Shocks Moroccan Family

The body of a woman was repatriated to Morocco instead of that of a Moroccan who died in Terrassa (Barcelona), due to a logistical error at Barcelona-El Prat airport.
The error was corrected and the body of the Moroccan was repatriated to Morocco where it was buried two days later. But the family, who suffered an emotional shock when they discovered the body of a foreigner instead of their deceased, plans to take the matter to court, said the niece of the deceased, Laila Moussafir, to El Periódico.

"It’s a bad joke. We want to file a complaint against those who could have caused us this terrible pain," said Laila, specifying that since the occurrence of this incident, she is taking antidepressants and that her aunt, the wife of the deceased, has not spoken a word.
Laila’s uncle died on March 23 at the age of 77, and his body was to be repatriated and buried in Casablanca on March 30. It was when they went to pick up his body that they discovered the woman’s body in its place. After informing the funeral home of this error, the coffin of their uncle was found in a warehouse at the El Prat airport.
