Blind Golfer Dragged by Car After Driver Refuses Guide Dog in Madrid

The national police arrested on Monday in Madrid a Moroccan, a VTC driver, who dragged the blind golfer, Marc Oller, for several meters, with his arm trapped in the car window. The driver refused to take him because he was accompanied by his guide dog.
The incident occurred in the afternoon on Monday, in the Madrid neighborhood of Arganzuela. Marc Oller, champion of the 2018 and 2021 Adapted Spanish Golf Cup, called a VTC service to go to an appointment. The VTC driver, once arrived, refused to take him because of the guide dog accompanying him.

The 44-year-old athlete had already inserted his arm to open the door from the inside when the driver started to raise the window, trapping Oller’s hand and then dragging him for about ten meters, reports EFE. Witnesses to the scene alerted the national police who quickly dispatched officers to the scene. Thanks to the vigilance of the latter, the driver was arrested.
The victim, who suffered several fractures to his fingers, received first aid before being taken to the hospital. The VTC driver, a 42-year-old Moroccan, is on the police record. He has a long criminal record and was even banned from leaving Spanish territory.
