Bayern’s Mazraoui Reveals Heart-Driven Choice to Play for Morocco Over Netherlands

Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui explains why he chose to play for the Moroccan national team, rather than the Dutch one, saying that joining the Atlas Lions is "a choice that comes from the heart".
"When it came time to choose between Morocco and the Netherlands, I had a conversation with the Dutch national team coach, Ronald Koeman. I went to see him out of respect, because he’s a big name in football, and after a five-minute discussion, he asked me: ’You’ve already made your decision, haven’t you?’ I said yes," Mazraoui said in the documentary "The Atlas Lions" aired on the Saudi channel "Al Sharq".
The Bayern Munich defender thanked the Dutch team coach for understanding that his heart only beat for Morocco.
It should be noted that Mazraoui had decided to join the Atlas Lions in 2018, turning his back on the Dutch federation and coach Koeman who had tried to convince him to wear the Dutch colors.
