Barcelona Sets €1 Billion Release Clause for Teen Sensation Lamine Yamal

FC Barcelona is preparing to extend Lamine Yamal’s contract until 2026, which expires at the end of this season. Joan Laporta plans to set the 16-year-old player’s release clause at one billion euros.
Lamine Yamal, who has no intention of leaving Barça, could sign for two more years with Barça, and no more. At 16 years old, the player of Moroccan origin will be of legal age in two years and could not conclude a contract beyond this duration. Joan Laporta should extend the attacker’s contract until 2026, but his release clause will now be 1 billion euros, reports Marca.
With this amount, Barça intends to remove the desire of Saudi Arabian clubs or other European clubs like Manchester City or PSG to eye its Moroccan prodigy who is in Xavi Hernández’s plans. The coach has started Lamine Yamal in Barça’s last three matches. Against Villarreal, the young striker provided his first assist in La Liga this season.
At 16 years old, Lamine Yamal has just been called up by Luis de la Fuente for Spain’s next two matches against Georgia and Cyprus counting towards the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Born in Spain to a Moroccan father and an Equatorial Guinean mother, the young player has chosen to play for Spain, turning his back on Morocco, which failed to convince him to join the Atlas Lions.
