Official: Lamine Yamal turns his back on Morocco

What had been anticipated for several days has just been confirmed a few minutes ago. Lamine Yamal has officially decided to turn his back on Morocco to opt for Spain.
At only 16 years old, he was called up this Friday by the Roja coach, Luis de La Fuente, a call-up he accepted. The young player will therefore no longer wear the Moroccan jersey. He will play the match against Georgia on September 8 and the one against Cyprus on September 12.

The choice of Luis de la Fuente to call up Lamine Yamal is not a surprise. After being excluded from the Morocco list, Walid Regragui indicated that the Barcelona striker had chosen Spain: "It’s a personal choice. We worked on this issue, but we can’t force anyone to play for Morocco. We are aware of his potential and what lies ahead of him. He was born in Spain. I wouldn’t want to have to make such a decision at his age," he said at a press conference.
