16-Year-Old Lamine Yamal Becomes Youngest-Ever Scorer for Spain in Euro 2024 Qualifier

Lamine Yamal, 16, has made history as the youngest player to make his debut for the Spanish national team. The young striker of Moroccan origin played on Friday against Georgia (7-1) and scored a goal, also becoming the youngest scorer for La Roja.
At just 16 years and 57 days, Lamine Yamal is now the youngest player to make his debut under the Spanish jersey, breaking the record of Gavi who had made his debut at 17 years and 62 days, reports sdpnoticias. The Barcelona prodigy played his first minutes on Friday against Georgia (7-1) as part of the qualifiers for Euro 2024.
Yamal came on just before half-time, replacing the injured Marco Ascensio. The young player scored a goal after a pass from Nico Williams and could have scored a brace, were it not for the intervention of a Georgian defender. But with this single achievement, he also becomes the youngest player to score for Spain.
Spain crushed Georgia on Friday and won 7-1 thanks to goals from Marco Ascencio (3), Solomon, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal. With this performance, La Roja is already second in the group and is potentially qualified for Euro 2024. A win against Cyprus on Tuesday would further strengthen its position.
