Banned from contacting his ex, Badr Hari is now suspected of stalking

Badr Hari remains in custody following his latest arrest in the Netherlands. And since his arrest on Tuesday in Amsterdam, the suspicions against the former kickboxing champion have widened.

Dutch police initially announced that they were investigating threats and insults. A spokesperson now confirms to RTL Boulevard that Badr Hari, 41, is also suspected of stalking, meaning repeated harassment.

Even more problematic for the athlete, investigators suspect that he may have breached a no-contact order issued during his previous case involving his former partner.

The measure dates back to September 2025. Badr Hari was then convicted of striking his former partner. The Dutch Public Prosecution Service imposed 24 hours of community service on him, ordered him to pay compensation, and banned him from contacting or approaching the victim for one year.

The sanction became final, as Badr Hari did not contest it within the prescribed deadline.

The new suspicion of violating this ban is therefore particularly sensitive. However, police have not yet publicly specified the exact facts that led them to believe Badr Hari may have breached the measure. At this stage, a violation remains a suspicion and not a judicially established fact.

The kickboxer is also firmly contesting the new accusations.

Through his lawyer Cem Polat, he has broken his silence for the first time since his arrest. Badr Hari explains that the entire matter is taking place against the backdrop of an ongoing family dispute with his former partner over the upbringing of their five children.

His team also maintains that no physical violence is alleged against him in the current case.

Badr Hari denies the accusations and remains in custody

“Badr Hari categorically denies the accusations made against him and stresses that they do not constitute an accurate representation of the facts,” the statement sent by his lawyer to the Dutch press says.

According to this version, Badr Hari responded to a police request and went to the police station himself to give his version of events. His lawyer says that he behaved calmly and is cooperating fully with the investigation.

The Moroccan, however, does not wish to reveal the details of the dispute with his former partner. He cites, in particular, the protection of their five children and the private nature of this family matter.

This new investigation comes less than a year after a previous proceeding concerning the same relationship. In February 2025, Badr Hari spent three nights in custody before being released under conditions following a complaint from his former partner.

He was accused at the time of hitting her when he came to drop off their children. Another altercation that occurred in September 2024 was also included in the case file. The proceedings were ultimately settled by the Public Prosecution Service without a public trial.

The current situation could now lead to another period in custody. Badr Hari must appear before the Dutch investigating magistrate on Friday.

This magistrate will have to decide whether the evidence gathered by investigators justifies extending his detention during the continuation of the investigation.

At this stage, Badr Hari is therefore suspected of making threats, insults and stalking. Police also claim that he may have violated a previously imposed no-contact order. He rejects all the accusations and portrays the case as the consequence of a dispute with his former partner concerning the upbringing of their children.

Friday’s decision will provide an initial indication of how the Dutch justice system views the seriousness of the new evidence gathered against the former champion.
