Dutch Police Arrest Kickboxer Badr Hari on Domestic Violence Allegation

The Moroccan kickboxer Badr Hari would have been arrested on Sunday by the police in Amsterdam. He is accused of having assaulted his wife.
The arrest follows a report received on Sunday, a police spokesman said. No further information was disclosed, particularly on the circumstances of the alleged assault, reports the local press.
Badr Hari has already faced justice in the past. In 2012, he was convicted for the assault of Koen Everink, a businessman, during an event at the Amsterdam Arena. He had received a two-year sentence, including ten months suspended.
During this trial, other allegations of violence had been mentioned, concerning his ex-partner Rosa. Messages from the latter, describing physical violence, had been presented as evidence. Badr Hari had been acquitted of these charges.
In recent years, Badr Hari has remained an important figure in kickboxing, notably thanks to his rivalry with Rico Verhoeven. The two men faced each other twice, in 2016 and 2019, in fights that attracted the attention of a wide audience.
