Convicted for assaulting his ex, Badr Hari arrested again in Amsterdam
Badr Hari was arrested again on Tuesday morning in Amsterdam. The Moroccan kickboxer is suspected of making threats and insults. This new arrest comes less than a year after his conviction for assaulting his former partner.
The arrest took place on Tuesday morning after an incident on Van Leijenberghlaan, in the Buitenveldert district. Dutch police confirmed that they had apprehended a 41-year-old man suspected of making threats and insults, without officially revealing his identity.
Badr Hari’s lawyer, Cem Polat, however, confirmed to AD that it was indeed his client. At midday, the former champion was still being held by police, who are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident.
The Dutch website Crimesite specifies that the arrest took place at around 9 a.m. The person allegedly targeted by the threats and insults is not yet known.
An account specializing in news about Dutch celebrities claims that this new case may be linked to Badr Hari’s former partner. Neither the police nor Cem Polat has confirmed this information, however. It has therefore not been established at this stage that the new arrest concerns the same person.

Badr Hari had already been arrested in Amsterdam in February 2025 following a complaint from his former partner. He had then spent three nights in detention before being released under several conditions.
A continuing contact ban with his former partner
This previous case ultimately resulted in a final conviction in September 2025. Badr Hari was sentenced to 24 hours of community service for assaulting his former partner, as well as compensation and one-year bans on contact and presence.
The Dutch public prosecutor’s office accused him of two incidents of violence, one of which occurred in September 2024 and another in February 2025. In one of the cases, he was accused of hitting his former partner while he was dropping off their children.
The prosecution settled the case through a penal order, without a conventional trial. Badr Hari did not challenge the penalty within the prescribed period, making it final.

The new arrest therefore comes while this previous conviction is still recent. However, at this stage, nothing indicates that the suspicions of threats and insults being examined on Tuesday constitute a violation of the bans imposed in 2025.
Amsterdam police are refusing for now to provide further details about the incident. On Tuesday at noon, Badr Hari was still in police custody.
