Dutch Soccer Star Ihattaren Sentenced to Community Service for Assault and Threats

In the Netherlands, the Dutch striker of Moroccan origin Mohamed Ihattaren has been sentenced by the courts to community service for complicity in attempted threat and for mistreating his ex-partner.

Community service instead of a prison sentence. Mohamed Ihattaren has been sentenced to 60 hours of community service for complicity in attempted threat and for assaulting his ex-partner. The footballer did not appeal the decision. The Dutch justice system based its decision on telephone conversations. According to one of these conversations, the player, who is under contract with Waalwijk until the summer of 2026, along with an accomplice, attempted to threaten someone at the end of 2022.

At the beginning of 2023, the player committed another offense by "giving several blows" to his partner, the public prosecutor’s office said. "This is simply violence towards his girlfriend at the time, now his wife, Yasmine Driouech," his lawyer had said, recalling that the influencer filed a complaint against the footballer after an argument in February 2023, during Ihattaren’s birthday party at his residence in Vleuten (Utrecht). The justice system also took into account the fact that he had never been convicted before for similar acts.

The public prosecutor’s office also considered the fact that the striker of Moroccan origin had "sought appropriate help" and that he had no further problems with the police or the justice system.
