Award-Winning Algerian-French Pastry Chef Overcomes Adversity to Excel in Île-de-France

Arrived in France at the age of 6, an Algerian man brings his passion to life and manages to carve out a place for himself in a country where he faces racism. He uses it as a lever to establish himself in pastry making. He has several awards to his credit, including the first two places in the regional competition for the best chocolate eclair in the Île-de-France region.

Adam Seddik, 30, is an Algerian known in the world of pastry, especially in the Île-de-France region. He arrives in France at the age of six and grows up in Villetaneuse. He dreamed of becoming a pastry chef. In an interview with AJ+, he recounts having passed his pastry CAP and that his family and his teacher encouraged him to obtain a general Baccalaureate, in order to then reorient himself.

Things will not be so simple for the young Adam. With his CAP in hand, he has trouble finding an internship that will allow him to validate it. He says he went to the headquarters of a company and that the boss was shocked when he saw him in front of him, because he associated him with the attacks that had taken place at the same time.

With perseverance, he manages to impose himself. Becoming a pastry chef, he creates his own shop. He is also the author of the second best flan in Île-de-France. With his apprentice, he recently won the first two places in the regional competition for the best chocolate eclair in Île-de-France. His flan is voted the second best croissant but also the best galette in Val-d’Oise.
