Construction Begins on Long-Awaited Guercif-Nador Highway in Morocco’s Rif Region

The SBTX company (formerly Bioui Travaux) has published photos of the construction site of the third section (Driouch-Nador West Mediterranean, 27 kilometers), hinting at the realization of this major project.

The Guercif-Nador highway project was launched in 2014, but its progress has been slowed by many obstacles. In 2022, the government finally released the necessary funds for the realization of the third section, thus allowing the launch of the works.

The Guercif-Nador highway will extend over a total length of 104 kilometers and will be divided into three sections:

• Guercif-Saka (36.5 kilometers)
• Saka-Driouch (40.5 kilometers)
• Driouch-Nador West Mediterranean (27 kilometers)

Once completed, the highway will allow to connect the cities of Guercif and Nador in only 1h30, against 3 hours currently. This reduction in travel time will help to streamline traffic and reduce accidents on this very busy road axis.
