Ambitious 104km Highway Project Accelerates Eastern Morocco’s Economic Transformation

The project to build the highway connecting Guercif to Nador is progressing at a steady pace. Recently published images show the level of progress on the third section, extending from the province of Driouch to the Nador West Med port, a distance of 27 kilometers.
This ambitious project covers a total distance of 104 kilometers. It is divided into three lots: the section connecting Guercif to Saka (36.5 kilometers); the section connecting Saka to the province of Driouch (40.5 kilometers) and the section connecting Driouch to the Nador West Med port (27 kilometers). The work is progressing at a good pace on these different sections, and appreciable execution rates are being recorded.
The highway project connecting Guercif to Nador aims to boost the economic and social development of the eastern region. The connection of the provinces of Guercif, Driouch and Nador to the national highway network will significantly reduce travel times, particularly to the Nador West Med port, which is expected to become a regional hub.
The project should also help strengthen the geographical and economic interconnection of the neighboring provinces such as Oujda, Berkane, Taourirt and Taza, and open up new prospects for investment, industrial growth and services.
