Aston Villa Eyes Moroccan World Cup Star Yassine Bounou as Potential Goalkeeper Signing

After being impressed by his performances at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, Aston Villa is showing interest in signing Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
Yassine Bounou is on Aston Villa’s radar. A big fan of the Moroccan international who plays for his former club Sevilla and is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga, Aston Villa coach Unai Emery wants to have Yassine in his squad, reports Football Insider. Villa’s interest is a surprise given that Emiliano Martinez is currently the first choice at Villa Park, with experienced Robin Olsen as number 2 in the Midlands.
The desire to sign the Moroccan goalkeeper is justified by his performances. At Sevilla since 2020, Yassine has recorded 53 clean sheets in 120 appearances. He kept a clean sheet in Morocco’s first match against Croatia (0-0) in the first round of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Absent for the Morocco-Belgium match due to dizziness, he is fit to continue the adventure with the Atlas Lions and could convince Aston Villa to sign him.
