Armed Gang Disrupts Funeral Vigil in Casablanca, Sparking Police Investigation

In Casablanca, a funeral vigil was disrupted by hooded individuals armed with swords and knives on January 23. Investigators from the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) have opened a judicial investigation to shed light on this case.
While a funeral vigil was taking place on Sunday evening in the Derb Ghallef neighborhood of Casablanca, hooded individuals armed with swords and knives burst into a caidal tent, reports Assabah. It’s a rout. Family members of the deceased, neighbors, guests and fkihs in charge of Quranic chanting and prophetic invocation fled. The assailants destroyed everything: chairs, tables, bottles and glasses.
Alerted, the police elements of the wilaya arrived on the scene. On their arrival, they noted the damage, then began their investigations. They interviewed eyewitnesses and victims. This intrusion would be related to a settling of scores. Young delinquents who had been denied entry by the organizers of the funeral vigil had brought their friends to ruin the ceremony.
The file was then entrusted to the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations, which opened a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
