US Ambassador Highlights Morocco’s Status as America’s Oldest Ally

The brand new US ambassador to Morocco has just recalled that the Kingdom is the oldest ally of Uncle Sam’s country.
During the inauguration ceremony of the first Interactive Digital Center in Morocco (IDC Morocco) at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Benguérir, the American diplomat expressed his delight at the close relations between the two allied countries.
In his message, he reiterated his country’s support for Morocco. The inscriptions on the posters posted on the pavilion’s facade illustrate this in many ways: "We will continue to provide opportunities for the next generation, maintain a relationship of mutual respect and forge new ties between our economies, our continents and our peoples," reads one of the posters. Further on, another, more expressive one, highlights the relations between the two countries: "Morocco is one of the oldest allies of the United States and the Treaty of Friendship and Peace, signed in 1787 with Morocco, is the oldest treaty in the history of the United States of America".
For the cultural attaché at "Dar America" in Casablanca, Laura MacArthur, the pavilion of the American Cultural Center "Dar America" at the SIEL has chosen, for this edition, the theme "America’s Window", in order to "celebrate the friendship between Morocco and the United States".
While presenting the offers of his center, including opportunities for further studies in the United States, and information on the granting of visas and the Fulbright higher education scholarship program in the USA, the director also noted that the pavilion presents profiles of American citizens living and working in Morocco and who "work to strengthen the ties between the two countries", by providing information about them, their regions of origin and their experiences in Morocco.
