Agadir Tourism Surges 9% in December, Domestic Visitors Lead Growth

The number of tourists who stayed in the various classified hotels in the city of Agadir, during last December, jumped by 9.14% compared to the same period of the previous year.
According to data from the Regional Tourism Council of Agadir Souss-Massa, the classified tourist establishments in Agadir welcomed 86,196 tourists in December 2019, compared to 78,979 visitors in the same month of 2018. Furthermore, nationals are at the top of the clientele with 28,212 tourists, compared to 22,938 tourists in December 2018, an increase of 22.99%.
According to the same source, they are followed by French tourists, ranked second with 17,215 arrivals against 14,144, an increase of 21.71%. British tourists are in 3rd position with 10,641 arrivals against 10,300 in December 2018, up 3.31%.
As for the ranking by tourist accommodation unit, 4-star hotels come out on top with 22,861 clients, followed by 5-star hotels with 21,738 arrivals and tourist clubs which totaled 17,407 tourists.
In December, the average occupancy rate of classified hotels, tourist clubs and tourist residences improved by 2.22% while the average length of stay is estimated at 4.24 nights, the same source specifies.
