Agadir Closes Beaches and Parks as COVID-19 Cases Surge

As of this Saturday, September 12, new restrictive measures are coming into effect in the city of Agadir. The local authorities have decided to crack down after the increase in cases of contamination.

The cases of Covid-19 contamination have seen a sharp rise in recent days in Agadir, forcing the local commission responsible for evaluating the epidemiological situation to meet urgently on Friday, September 11. The meeting was aimed at assessing the situation in order to take the necessary measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.

Among the measures taken, there is the closure of the El Had souk for two weeks, starting on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, following the appearance of a cluster of contamination within this market. It was also decided to close the beaches, the parks of Agadir from Saturday, September 12. Neighborhood businesses, supermarkets and cafes must close at 10 p.m. and restaurants at 11 p.m.

It should be noted that for the day of Friday, September 11, 336 new infections were recorded in the Souss - Massa region, including 65 in Agadir.
