Agadir Tightens COVID-19 Restrictions for New Year’s Holiday Period

Like the city of Casablanca and its region, Agadir is barricading itself during the year-end holiday period. The authorities have decided to strengthen the restrictive measures enacted for two weeks to counter the spread of the coronavirus.
In a press release, the prefectural monitoring committee indicates that the decision was made following the conclusions of the regular monitoring operations of the development of the epidemiological situation. It was also decided due to the resurgence of cases of contamination. This measure comes into effect this Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 9 p.m.
Several measures have been taken in this framework, including the closure of beaches as well as the closure of Souk El Had and neighborhood markets at 3 p.m. To these measures are added the closure of hammams and beauty salons with the exception of hairdressing salons, gyms, parks and neighborhood fields.
As for cafes, restaurants, shops and large shopping centers, they must close at 8 p.m. As for bus drivers, they are invited to stop their activity at 9 p.m. while company managers must prioritize remote work.
In addition, citizens are invited to have the exceptional authorization for any travel to and from the prefecture of Agadir-Ida Outanane. Any form of night travel between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. is prohibited except for health and professional reasons.
