Ziyech’s Limited Playing Time at Galatasaray Threatens Morocco Future
Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech is still lacking playing time at Galatasaray, where he has been playing since August 2023. This situation could jeopardize his return to the national team.
Hakim Ziyech is going through a bad patch. He is still lacking playing time at Galatasaray. The Moroccan international remained on the bench until the end of the last match won by his Turkish club away against Sivasspor (3-2) while coach Okan Buruk made five substitutions. He only played for five minutes in the previous match against Eyüpspor, which ended in a draw (2-2), and only four minutes against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. The former Ajax star has only provided one small assist in ten games in all competitions this season.
This persistent lack of playing time could be detrimental to the 31-year-old player. His return to the national team is at risk. The Atlas Lion (64 caps, 25 goals) has not been called up to the national team in recent months. It will be difficult for him to regain the trust of Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national team.
