Ziyech Erupts After Substitution in Qatar Cup Semi-Final

Hakim Ziyech made himself noticed again this Wednesday by strongly expressing his discontent after Christophe Galtier substituted him during the Qatar Cup semi-final against Al-Gharafa. The incident occurred in the 71st minute, when the score was 0-0.
Called to come off, the 32-year-old Moroccan international, playing as right midfielder, exchanged a few words before kicking two water bottles and sitting on the bench, where a teammate calmed him down. Al-Duhail eventually won on penalties (4-3).
The reason for his discontent is not established, but his attitude might not be appreciated by the French coach and could create tensions.
The Moroccan international is known for this type of behavior, particularly with the Moroccan national team. Moreover, his arrival at Al-Duhail followed a reportedly difficult end to his collaboration with his coach at Galatasaray, Okan Buruk. At the end of March, a post on his social media had also sparked interpretations of a possible criticism towards the Moroccan national team coach Walid Regragui.
