Young Man Arrested for Attempting to Approach King Mohammed VI’s Motorcade

A young man was brought before the Criminal Chamber near the Court of Appeal of Rabat, for intentional obstruction of traffic on the public highway. He had tried to intercept the car of King Mohammed IV at a roundabout in Salé, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
Holder of a degree in private law and a diploma in business administration and management, the individual told the Judicial Police that he had prostrated himself before the King out of respect without ever leaving the sidewalk.
He added that he had remained in this position, in the hope of attracting the Sovereign’s attention, at the same time refuting any intention or attempt to hinder traffic or to be at odds with the law.
Despite his clean criminal record, the daily Assabah reports that the Public Prosecutor’s Office decided to place the young unemployed man in pre-trial detention in the local Laarjat prison in Salé.
