Man Faces Trial for Repeated Attempts to Disrupt Moroccan King’s Procession

Placed in pre-trial detention since June 25 by the investigating judge, the employee of a microfinance company will be brought before the criminal chamber of the Rabat Court of Appeal on Monday, November 11, for attempted obstruction of the Royal Procession and disruption of traffic.
Arrested in December 2018 by the security services on the boulevard of the first air base in Salé, as he was preparing to intercept the royal convoy, the individual had been released after signing a non-recidivism commitment.
However, this approach does not seem to have deterred him from committing the same mistake a few months later, by tracking the circuit of the royal procession from a cafe near the Royal Palace.
At the sight of the King’s car, he quickly positioned himself at the edge of the road, trying to attract the Sovereign’s attention by prostrating himself and gesticulating, reports the daily Assabah.
In his statement to the judicial police services, the individual had expressed his difficult social conditions, stating that with a meager salary, it was impossible for him to provide for the needs of his parents.
