12-Year-Old Gamer Dies by Suicide in Morocco, Raising Concerns About Online Trends

A suicide case caused an uproar last Wednesday, in Douar Lebabra in the province of Taounate. A young boy aged 12 committed suicide by hanging.
According to Alyaoum24, the deceased, in the last year of primary school, was addicted to video games. Before committing the act, he locked himself up by blocking access to the top floor of the family home. "He would have followed the dangerous trend that is being broadcast on these games," the publication claims, while his relatives say the young boy was leading a normal life and did not suffer from any psychological or mental difficulties.
The body was taken to the morgue of the Ghassani Hospital in Fez for an autopsy. At the same time, an investigation was opened by the Royal Gendarmerie to elucidate the circumstances of the young boy’s death.
