World Cup: Tough times for Morocco's rivals

As the 2026 World Cup approaches, Brazil, Scotland and Haiti, future opponents of Morocco, have all suffered setbacks in their recent friendly matches. These poor performances contrast with the stable preparation of the Atlas Lions before the American tournament.

Brazil, Morocco’s first group stage opponent, lost 2-1 to France. Despite a late goal from Gleison Bremer, the Seleção succumbed to Kylian Mbappé and Hugo Ekitike. The Brazilians will try to bounce back this Wednesday, April 1st, in a second test against Croatia.

Scotland also disappointed, losing 1-0 against Japan, conceding a goal from Junia Ito in the 84th minute. For their part, Haiti followed the same trajectory, falling to Tunisia (1-0). These two teams return to the field this Tuesday, March 31st, to face Côte d’Ivoire and Iceland respectively.

Meanwhile, Morocco continues to gain momentum. After an encouraging 1-1 draw against Ecuador, the Atlas Lions, led by their new technical staff headed by Mohamed Ouahbi, challenge Paraguay this Tuesday. This series of results from their competitors reinforces the confidence of the Moroccan camp before the start of the competition.
