A heavyweight reinforcement for Mohamed Ouahbi

National coach Mohamed Ouahbi has chosen Youssef Hadji as his second assistant, putting an end to the rumors surrounding Adil Ramzi. This revamped technical staff will prepare Morocco for the upcoming World Cup.

The former Moroccan international has already begun his mission. He will support the Portuguese technician Joao Sacramento, appointed as the first assistant. This choice marks the reunion between Youssef Hadji and Mohamed Ouahbi, the two men having already collaborated during the triumph of the national team at the U20 World Cup last year.

This appointment contradicts the recent press information mentioning the appointment of Adil Ramzi. While discussions have indeed taken place between the latter and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, they did not result in any official agreement. The Moroccan bench will therefore rely on Joao Sacramento, former collaborator of José Mourinho at Tottenham, whose presence had been confirmed during the official presentation of the coach.

The new staff will announce the list of players called up next week to face Ecuador and Paraguay on March 27 and 31, during friendly matches played in Spain and France. Significant changes are expected compared to the group led by Walid Regragui during the previous Africa Cup of Nations.

These matches will serve as direct preparation for the World Cup scheduled for next June in the United States, Mexico and Canada. Placed in Group C, the Moroccans will start the competition against Brazil, before facing Scotland and Haiti.
