Two Women Arrested at Laâyoune Airport for International Drug Smuggling

Two women aged 30 and 43 respectively are the subject of a judicial investigation conducted by the judicial police of Laâyoune. They are accused of their alleged involvement in a case of attempted international drug and psychotropic trafficking.
In a press release, the DGSN specifies that the arrest of the two suspects was effective thanks to the collaboration of the national security services of Hassan 1ᵉʳ airport in Laâyoune and those of the Customs Administration. In total, 2,291 psychotropic tablets of the "Rivotril" type were found in the suitcase of the first suspect, who arrived on a flight from Las Palmas in the Canary Islands.
Later, with the support of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the research and investigations led to the arrest of the second suspect to whom the lot of intercepted psychotropic tablets was intended, as well as a sum of money suspected of coming from this criminal activity.
The two suspects were taken into custody. Meanwhile, the investigation continues under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office in order to shed light on all possible ramifications and apprehend all accomplices involved in this criminal activity.
