Woman Arrested in Marrakech for Child Kidnapping and Forced Begging Scheme

The judicial police of Marrakech arrested on Sunday a woman wanted for kidnapping a 3-year-old child in Kénitra. She was arrested in flagrante delicto of exploiting the child for begging.
"The kidnapper was immediately transferred to Kénitra where she was placed in police custody, at the disposal of the investigation opened under the supervision of the public prosecutor at the court of first instance of Kénitra," reports Assabah, specifying that the accused is "a friend of the victim’s mother".
While visiting relatives in Sidi Ayache, in the Kénitra region, the woman proposed to her friend to return to Kénitra with the child. But she finally went to Moulay Bousselham with the minor, then turned off her phone. Since then, the kidnapper has not given any sign of life until her arrest in Marrakech.
Known to the judicial services for fraud, the accused risks five to ten years in criminal confinement for having kidnapped a 3-year-old child, in accordance with the provisions of the Penal Code which punishes with this sentence any person who "with violence, threats or fraud, kidnaps or diverts, or attempts to kidnap or divert, a minor under eighteen years of age".
