A four-year-old child died on Sunday from the effects of a scorpion sting near his family home in Oulad Azzouz, in the province of Khouribga.
Stung by a scorpion, the child was urgently transferred by his parents to the emergency room of the Khouribga hospital where he finally died due to the lack of anti-venom serum in this center, according to sources at Alyaoum24.
Cases of scorpion stings and snake bites increase in the province of Khouribga during the summer. Children and the elderly are the most exposed to these often fatal stings. The remoteness of hospitals and the unavailability of serums contribute to the increase in these deaths.
