Moroccan Mayor Sentenced for Negligence in Child’s Death After Ambulance Delay

The Court of First Instance in Taza sentenced the president of the commune of Meknassa Acharqia to three months in prison with probation and a fine of 3,000 dirhams for failing to provide an ambulance to urgently transport a sick child, which led to the minor’s death.
Prosecuted for "failure to assist a person in danger," the commune president, a member of the Popular Movement party, was convicted of negligence in providing an ambulance to a family to urgently transport a sick child to the hospital.
The minor died a few moments after being admitted to the emergency room of the Ibn Baja regional hospital in Taza. The
