5-Year-Old in Casablanca Hospitalized After Alleged Abuse by Mother

A 5-year-old child would have been the victim of acts of torture in Casablanca. His 32-year-old mother has been arrested and placed in custody.
It all started with a report from the school principal where the 5-year-old child is enrolled. She discovered recent and older injuries on the child’s body, including in sensitive areas. The child protection unit intervened quickly. It ensured that the child received the necessary medical care and psychological support.
According to the judicial police of Casablanca, the facts did indeed occur. Accused of having used a heated object to inflict the injuries, the child’s mother will be arrested. Pending the resolution of this case, she has been placed in custody.
A similar case occurred in 2022. In a video that went viral, a 6-year-old girl is seen covered in bruises and burns from head to toe. The police quickly reacted to the incident. That year, Morocco recorded a total of 3,295 cases of attacks against children, or more than 40% of all crimes of violence against children.
