Moroccan Man Thwarts Child Abduction Attempt Near Bordeaux
A 36-year-old Moroccan man helped prevent the kidnapping of a 7-year-old child in Bassens, Gironde. Salah Hydaoui was seated at the terrace of a café when he witnessed the scene. A mother waiting for the bus with her two children saw her eldest son kidnapped by a stranger.
Alerted by the mother’s cries, Salah Hydaoui reacted immediately. He chased after the kidnapper and managed to subdue him a few meters away. The individual, who spoke English, was brought back to the café while waiting for the police to arrive.
The police quickly apprehended the suspect, a 27-year-old Pakistani national. He was taken into custody and then hospitalized in psychiatry.
Salah Hydaoui’s civic act was hailed by the local residents and authorities. His family hopes he will be awarded the medal of honor for acts of courage and dedication.
"It would have been something else, I wouldn’t have touched the gentleman. But there, there was a child in danger," explains Salah Hydaoui to Actu.fr.
This event has caused a strong emotion in Bassens and the surrounding area. Many parents say they are worried about the safety of their children.
The mother of the child, deeply shocked by the incident, wanted to express her gratitude to Salah Hydaoui.
