West Ham Renews Pursuit of £25M Rennes Defender Nayef Aguerd in January Transfer Window

Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd is still being monitored by West Ham, who hope to have him in their squad during this winter transfer window.
Nayef Aguerd, 25, is still on West Ham’s radar. After failing to sign the Moroccan international last summer, the English club has not given up. It is monitoring the Rennes defender in the hope of recruiting him, reports The Athletic. Nayef Aguerd is worth £25 million.
This season, he has scored four goals in 25 appearances. West Ham’s interest in the Moroccan player has served as a lever for him to obtain an improved contract, which runs until the summer of 2025. Previously, the English club had offered 20 million euros to secure the services of the Rennes defender. An offer declined by Stade Rennais.
Nayef Aguerd is an important player for Rennes. Former Rennes coach Julien Stéphan describes the Moroccan player: "He is a cerebral person, who thinks a lot and is attentive, constantly in exchange and in sharing. He is a very simple person, full of humility and who shows a great desire to progress."
