West Ham’s Aguerd Doubtful for Arsenal Clash Due to World Cup Injury

Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd may miss the match that will pit West Ham against Arsenal next week. The player has still not recovered from the injury sustained during the World Cup in Qatar.
Nayef Aguerd’s injury is bad news for David Moyes, who was counting on the Moroccan’s presence to make a breakthrough in the standings. The Atlas Lion had already been absent in pre-season due to a serious ankle injury. He was even uncertain for the World Cup because of the surgical procedure he underwent in July. But he recovered quickly.
At the World Cup, he was unable to participate in the quarter-final against Portugal, as he was injured during the match against Spain on December 6. The Hammers were hoping to see him face Arsenal on December 26, but his absence from the classification match against Croatia may be a sign of a much slower recovery.
