Wealthy Driver Flees After Hitting Officer in Rabat Traffic Incident

A "ould lefchouch" (rich kid) fled after injuring a policeman in charge of traffic management in the Bab El Mellah area, in the center of Rabat.
The incident took place on Wednesday, November 2 in the Ocean district of Rabat. A young man nicknamed "son of the MP" fled after hitting a policeman during a check at the level of Bab El Mellah, reports the Arabic daily Assabah. He used the tramway lane to head towards the Akkari district, then towards the coastal road. In his flight, he damaged several vehicles that were on Avenue Hassan II.
Alerted, the police services of the capital went to the scene. They came across a piece of the bumper of the vehicle driven by the young man, with the registration plate still attached. An object that allowed them to quickly identify the "reckless driver". After that, the police went to the home of the young man’s mother, a woman known in the capital and nicknamed "the MP", but her child was not there. They discovered that the vehicle in question was registered in the mother’s name.
Currently, the police are actively searching for the young man. He could face several charges: intentional assault on a police officer on duty, failure to comply, damage caused to others on public roads and fleeing, attempted manslaughter.
