Violent Pickpocket Attack on Barcelona Beach Leads to Arrest of Repeat Offender

While he had seriously injured a man while trying to steal his cell phone on the Barceloneta beach, a young Moroccan with a criminal record was arrested by the Mossos d’Esquadra.
According to La Vanguardia, these events took place on the Barceloneta beach located in the center of Barcelona. On Thursday, August 29, around 7 a.m., a young man of Moroccan origin tried to attack a stranger in order to steal his mobile phone. Following the victim’s resistance, the pickpocket fled. But a few moments later, he returned to the victim to attack him again.
The same source reports that the author of this assault is a 21-year-old Moroccan citizen who has a history of theft. He was apprehended by the Mossos d’Esquadra thanks to the testimonies of several people who witnessed the various scenes and described the thief.
The victim, who was in serious condition after the assault, was taken to a hospital to receive appropriate care. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the attack.
