Venomous Creatures Terrorize Fez Medina Residents, Child Hospitalized

The population of the Medina of Fez is living in fear because of snakes, scorpions and other venomous insects that are causing many victims during this summer period. They are calling on the authorities for help.
"This is a problem that is not new. It has been several years that the inhabitants have been suffering from it. Recently, a child was bitten by a reptile. He remained in a coma for four hours before being saved in extremis. We have constantly called on the officials to remedy this situation, but in vain," recounts a resident to Le360.
According to some citizens of the Medina of Fez, a traditional old oven would favor the multiplication of snakes, scorpions and other venomous insects. "This oven is the cause of so much misfortune," affirms a young man met on the spot.
The inhabitants have meanwhile alerted the municipality, which has deployed a team on the spot. "They spread products, but it didn’t bear fruit," says another inhabitant. "Worse still, these products killed my cat that I had for 7 years."
Faced with the situation, many Fassis call for the demolition of unhealthy habitats that are in danger of collapse and could serve as a refuge for snakes and scorpions. They also ask the local authorities to provide their neighborhood with green spaces.
