Unauthorized Villas on Morocco’s Dalia Beach Face Demolition, Sparking Controversy

While the authorities of the prefecture of Fahs-Anjra are preparing to launch a vast demolition operation of a set of villas built without a permit on the maritime domain of the Dalia beach, residents fear discrimination.
The Dalia beach will not be spared by the operation to free the maritime domain. In the sights of the prefecture of Fahs-Anjra, a set of villas and houses built without a permit on the maritime domain. In this perspective, an expanded commission visited the Dalia beach a few weeks ago, in order to list the habitats that will be demolished.
This operation, which has not yet been launched, is already raising concerns. Residents of the Dalia beach fear a "selectivity" of the authorities in the demolition process, especially since the maritime domain also includes villas belonging to parliamentarians and influential people in the region, according to the newspaper Al3omk. Their wish is that the operation touches everyone.
