Unauthorized Car Washes Surge in Morocco, Raising Water Waste Concerns
Deputy Loubna Sghiri addressed the Ministers of the Interior and Equipment and Water to sound the alarm about the proliferation of unauthorized car wash stations.
Many managers of legal stations, having invested significant sums, are surprised to see some unregulated competitors obtain work permits.
These illegal stations, representing more than 80% of the market, operate illegally and waste a significant amount of drinking water, a precious resource during the water deficit period that Morocco is experiencing.
The government having already limited the activity of legal stations to four days a week, the PPS deputy questions the ministries on their strategy to raise awareness among citizens about the crisis.
The objective is to promote a rational use of water and encourage the population to get involved in preserving this vital resource.
