UAE Port Presentation Sparks Controversy Over Morocco Map Omission

Morocco and the United Arab Emirates maintain good diplomatic relations. But the occurrence of an incident causes surprise among Moroccan internet users: a map of the kingdom without the Sahara.
Moroccan internet users were surprised by the presence of a map of Morocco without the Sahara during the presentation by the promoters of the mega-expansion project of the Khalifa port to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and great friend of the kingdom. This map was visible on the globe that the Emirati emir, who maintains unbreakable ties of friendship and brotherhood with Morocco, was contemplating.
According to some Moroccans, it is time for the United Arab Emirates to follow in the footsteps of Saudi Arabia, which has banned truncated maps of the kingdom as well as the term "Western Sahara" from its official documents. The Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Mohamed bin Salman (MBS), has banned the use of the term "Western Sahara" or any truncated map of Morocco. A decision that must be generalized and respected by all Saudi parties and departments, as well as all related establishments.
The incident occurred a few hours after an announcement by the foreign ministers of the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). On Sunday in Riyadh, they reaffirmed the constant positions and decisions of the GCC Supreme Council supporting the Moroccanness of the Sahara.
